Why Will The Gphone Squash The Iphone and WM Phones?
August 18, 2008 - 5:06pm — Solacetech
It's an interesting day for the folks at Google. Not only do we see the supposed GPhone (AKA, the HTC Dream) get trotted out to the FCC, and hear new rumors about the device's release date, but now there's a brand-spanking-new release of the Android SDK available. The version? 0.9 -- a number which puts this dangerously close to a number that most would consider non-beta.
I ask the question again. Why will The proposed Gphone squash what's out there now?
1) Price. Google is not out to make a killing in an already crowded market. There philosphy is "don't be evil" and the one I made up "Let's try something different". This is all speculation of course, but, let's say google uses it's advert platform to offset the manufacturing and carrier costs. Would it be cheaper than the Iphone and Window mobile phones? Probably.
2) Software. Google's cloud loving software should work like a breeze on mobile phones. Open api and open source(isn't that the same thing?) software should flourish on this and even if they keep everything in the cloud, think of the space that will leave for processing power. Most smartphones now freeze up due to lack of space/ram/rom.
This is just me Dreaming about the Google "Dream" but if just these two points are true, Smart phones will get more affordable fast! I'm definitely for that... What do you think?

August 12, 2008 - 4:00pm — SolacetechThe iPhone, Take it or...no Just Take It
August 3, 2008 - 7:58am — SolacetechIt appears Mr. Jobs has distorted our reality again. Listening to TWIT and Cranky Geeks podcasts this week shows that even Apple lovers aren't too thrilled with the new software upgrade or 3G Iphone. Of course they all had one, but still complained. At here the response isn't that bad but here's what one twitter said(with his permission):
@davidadewumi iPhone is definitely NOT a revolutionary phone -- it is a UMPC (and a good one). not one person I know would want such an unreliable phone
@Solacetech can i quote about that?
@davidadewumi@Solacetech sure. People with phones want two things: text & talk. iPhone is mediocre for one, and battery life too short for the other.
Since no one was allowed to test the Iphone prior, batteries as well as applications die, freeze and perform miserably. That's OK though, It will get better. Jobs is doing the pouring and we are lining up with green cups...
The Last Piece To The Smart Phone Puzzle
July 27, 2008 - 4:57pm — SolacetechTech-Ex: Cell Phones to Get Smart Batteries: "Warning, Warning, Danger, Danger"
"With all the negative publicity over Lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries, whether it's the Nokia battery recall last year, the Sony laptop battery fiasco, exploding Eee PC batteries, and more --- smart batteries that could warn you of an impeding disaster would be great, wouldn't they?"
The inhibitor for more advanced features on our phones is the battery. We all know the Iphone's battery life is terrible and when you add bluetooth, wifi and GPS it get's worse. So how long do we have to wait before this is fixed? Hopefully not too long. Wait a moment, did they just say "exploding Eee PC Batteries"????

July 12, 2008 - 5:32am — SolacetechMore excitement greets Apple's new iPhone - MarketWatch
The first 3G iPhone reportedly was sold at a Vodafone Group store in Auckland, New Zealand, after the combination mobile phone, iPod and Wi-Fi device went on sale shortly after midnight there.
Let me start off by saying that I am not a fan of the iPhonE. There, I said it. I just bought my first ipod last year for the mobile video use. If I needed the functions the iphoNe provided, maybe then I would participate. As it stands though I will not buy an ipHone anytime soon. My friends have one, but since I bought Eee, I'm good...Yes it looks sleek but how good is the camera? Has anyone tested it's battery life with the GPS and bluetooth on? Are there any reviews or tests out there? Talk about a walled garden. You have to jail break it just to use today's software. Are we seeing the red flags here? Still not on Tmobile in the US. To buy it out right costs more than the Gen1 version. I can't trust anything I can't fix if it breaks...No iph0ne for me, no thanx...
What's the Buzz about Steve Jobs?
June 17, 2008 - 7:10pm — SolacetechApparently it's his health. Reports say Mr. J didn't look that healthy during the 3G iPhone Demo. Yes he fought his cancer threat and yes He is under a lot of pressure business wise. Maybe he's just getting old... http://www.buzzfeed.com/buth/steve-jobs-is-dying-maybe
I want Qik too!
June 13, 2008 - 8:33pm — SolacetechWhy doesn't att sell the nokia n95 or n96? I really want to use www.qik.com but the phones sold for the US are How you say, crappy. You can go to the site yourself to see but the selection isn't pretty. Nokias work the best with it's S60 operating system.
The good news is that now the iphone can be used with qik now. The bad news is that you have to crack it to make it work, and the camera isn't that good. Oh well, i'm waiting on the api so someone can make a java version for regular camera phones...
New Vapor 3G Iphone
June 9, 2008 - 9:14pm — SolacetechNot this Picture though. This pic came from a poor guy in December last year ( http://my-cellphone-reviews.blogspot.com/ ). The sad part is since cameras weren't allowed today, there is STILL no evidence of the new phone. Oh, plenty of people saw something in Steve Jobs hand, but was it really the item coming out July 11th, 2008? Or is it just something he brought to show-and-tell for today? Really, think about it. Vista was thrown together to compete with OSx and Linux. Www.Qik.com now plays on Nokia's and Windows mobile phones(think about it!). Steve Jobs earlier said Flash is trash and Microsoft pushes out Silverlight around the same time. And the number one reason why Stevie J was holding a concept phone today...Louis Gray refused to post anything about it( http://www.louisgray.com/live/2008/06/louisgraycom-experiences-100-uptim... ). I rest my case folks...
