Comcast Buys Then Burns Chirp Users

Comcast's thePlatform Buys Social Media Developer Chirp | Digital Media Wire

"While Chirp has launched applications that combine social networking with media consumption, thePlatform said it will not continue Chirp's existing services, but will instead build new community and content discovery features using Chirp technology into its media publishing system."

A while back I discussed how cool the company called Chirp was. I really thought they were going places the way they integrated Flickr and Twitter into a screensaver. I guess Comcast felt the same way! The sad part is that they will totally mesh Chirp technology into their future endeavours without keeping the existing apps.
This reminds me of the time when Disney bought and merged among others, Chilton. Now around that time I also worked there and we were so excited about the potential benefits to working under Disney. Not long after, Chilton was dissolved. A power house of automobile manual publishing gone just like that.

Funny enough, we aren't too worried about Yahoo once Microsoft buys them. We are all honestly worried about Flickr and our precious pictures on their servers. Forget Delicious and the merging of yahoo mail with hotmail. The concern is that MSFT when stick their dirty fingers into our Flickr lemonade, pretending the flavor is still sweet. I know that's nasty but that's what's going to happen....Trust me
