"It's a 2 email day. Forgive me, but I have something very important to ask you. What tastes better than chocolate and peanut butter? Not much. But, we think we may have found something. socialmedian + facebook have now been brought together. Check it out the next time you log in to socialmedian. Or, at http://apps.facebook.com/socialmedian/ Which means you can instantly let your Facebook friends know whether you like or dislike a news story. And seriously, what's cooler than that?"

Advertisers Don't Think Social Networks Count

According to Collective Thoughts, it looks like Alexa has stopped counting social media traffic all together. Alexa looks to have enforced a new way of filtering which docks sites that see a lot of traffic from popular sites like Digg, StumbleUpon, and even from feed readers. Why? The only possible answer is to appease those that use the Alexa data for advertising figures.

This is the second time I heard this. I can't remember the first occurrence but it seems Advertisers want to use Social Media but not pay for it. Hmmm let's elaborate. Say Techcrunch is negotiating a new ad deal with company X. Company X uses the tried and trusted Alexa numbers to get a lower ad price but still enjoy page hits and clicks from unaccounted for Digg, Facebook and other "Social" sites. Sounds like the tipping scales are starting to balance to me...What do You think?

Is The Web 2.0 Pool Getting Crowded?

Connect with people with similar interests. When you join a community, you are fed with an ever-updating list of blogs and blog posts submitted and chosen by like-minded individuals. Blogs are approved into a community by a community manager and their posts are pulled in automatically. Community members 'bump' the great posts so you can read everything as well as see what others think are the best ones.If you have a blog, you can tap into a group of people who will visit your blog every day, or at least every time you post. You get great visibility on BUMPzee because the communities are small and focused.

This past Saturday we decided not to drive to Atlantic City. We heard there was a pool not too far from where we now lived and decided to go there instead. Now my wife scouted it out earlier last week so it seemed like a good idea, but I was still a little unsure. This was a public pool so surely it would be packed no matter what time we went to it. This is what I thought even though I too helped the kids get ready for the proposed fun...

Man was I wrong! The pool only had ten kids there not counting us five. There was plenty of room and plenty of space in the Olympic sized pool. We had a great time and I'm glad I didn't rain on their parade by saying no...

Did Your IT Dept. Ban TWITTER Yet?

Social Networking and Employees: Where Do You Draw the Line? [SearchEngineWatch]

"With the rise of social networking, employers are left wondering if or how the trend affects their bottom line. Many have decided that Facebook and MySpace in the workplace are not appropriate (for content or productivity reasons) and have banned the sites from being accessed at their offices."

Twitter is still safe but Youtube is banned at my job. They even jammed secret ninja proxy! This article makes a good point of how it's harder to monitor these activities with the mobile technology on our hips though. I remember jobs where the reps would whisper to each other about not working on their websites on the clock. Umm does thumbing a post from my cell count? :)

Can Social Networks Hurt You?

As already known, employers search social networks to research potential employees before the interview. Now prosecutors also search to find anything incriminating against potential criminals...

"Social networking sites are just another way that people say things or do things that come back and haunt them," said Phil Malone, director of the cyberlaw clinic at Harvard Law School's Berkman Center for Internet & Society. "The things that people say online or leave online are pretty permanent."

In the case above, the person seriously injured someone in a car accident then went to a Halloween party dressed up in prison wear. Someone else there posted pics of the party on Facebook. This situation just highlights how what we do online can help and/or hinder us. Of course this depends on what we do in the real life. Even when we are doing good though, our online profile helps us until trolls or cyber bullies decide to make trouble. It's a big risk using your actual name online too, but that's my opinion. What do you think?

Friend Feed pop ups

ff pop ups, originally uploaded by Solacetech.

Well almost resisted posting about friend feed or twitter this week. What broke the silence was after being on FF all day, tonight I happened to hover over who left a post and Whaaat, a pop up of the person's profile appeared!!! That's cool. But this was in the program called prism. How about the website? Yes it does it there too. How about Twhirl? That's a no go. It's interesting that right after every AIR app upgrades, FF get an upgrade that you can only be seen on it's turf...Well it probably isn't meant that way, it just looks that way. Your opinions on this? Sure, why not? BTW Loic, why haven't you subscribed? ;-)

Online Friend Addicts?

Great conversation about people who befriends everyone on www.Facebook.com or www.myspace.com . Click here: http://www.winextra.com/2008/03/27/open-memo-to-all-those-folks-friendin...

Here's my two cents on the subject:
"Ahhh. Well sorry for getting techno-emotional on you. I definitely understand your points. I'm just honestly glad that I get to pull back the curtains and see what the genius of today do when they are at work. Most of the apps I use is b/c you or shegeeks or someone else on friend feed recommends it. I'm expanding my Intelligence friending people who would normally not be my friend...That's cool!"

Trying Mozilla's Prism app

On www.friendfeed.com today I bugged everyone for a standalone app that melts every feed I have into one stream. Some said Adobe AIR could use the various api's to make a desktop status application. I suppose Flash and Silverlight could do the same. But for how long will we have to wait for it?

Facebook IM Wars

yapper

No, this isn't DeJa-Vu. Due to a mysterious "Sam" commenting on my Social.im article, I'm now compelled to investigate about this other IM app for Facebook.
