August 25, 2008 - 4:20pm — SolacetechVista Is Running Backwards Fast
July 23, 2008 - 12:12am — SolacetechSanDisk says Vista isn't tweaked for solid-state drives - The Tech Report
"As soon as you get into Vista applications in notebook and desktop, you start running into very demanding applications because Vista is not optimized for flash memory solid state disk,"
Of course Hard disk drives will be around for a little while longer, but I still feel MSFT is still missing the boat here. With every other Company making smaller and smaller portable pc's, what will they do when/if everyone switches to SSD? Granted the only big advatage to Solid State Drives are their durability right now. Soon though as we see with SDHC technology, more memory will be available in smaller spaces. To have Bloated Vista on anything besides a desktop would be a waste of time right now. I hope they figure it out before it's too late, XP isn't the latest and greatest, it just the only safe choice presently...

A Good Week After All
May 27, 2008 - 8:01pm — SolacetechFinally something other than FF or Twitter to talk about! Crunch Gear display possible views of Window 7, the Successor of XP . Wait did I say XP? Oh I meant Corporate-won't-touch-with-a-ten-foot-pole VISTA. I bought a laptop with VISTA on it...Then promptly gave it to my wife. It overheats, shuts down and freezes... When I had Linux on it, none of these issues appeared. I put VISTA back on it so My Accountant(Ahem) can work online also. The comments given after the pics aren't favorable but I commend MSFT for try, trying and TRYING again. Clearly this is their last gasp, hopefully Corporate America will accept this one...

Scripts, scripts everywhere..
May 20, 2008 - 1:05pm — Solacetechtexting this from cell...Philadelphia has alot of scripts floating around lately. Movie makers are filming everywhere so look out for philly landmarks on screen. Actually the scripts i'm really talking about are made for the computer. When you first bought your Vista laptop or desktop, you probably noticed the small box in the upper left screen showing the progress of the install. That my friend is a script. scripts basically automates a computer function. In this case, it installs the additional software needed to run. In some cases it makes online things work better. Just asked my IT coworker about greasemonkey scripts and he never heard of it. Really? I just started using them myself on www.friendfeed.com and www.twitter.com but i heard about it a while ago... Hmmm. Go google it so you too can surf the web a little better.
Vista SP1 Ready or not
April 23, 2008 - 10:58pm — SolacetechBoy oh boy. Do you want to read my Vista story? 6 mths ago my main laptop went puff and I had to run to Bestbuy and get a cheap Vista laptop. While in the PARKING LOT, I wiped it and installed the latest UBUNTU at that time(get the latest version here www.unbuntu.com). The bugs on Linux annoyed me so much I put Vista back on it and now the automatic SP1 update is here. When the service pack was manual, I heard horror stories from the bloggers. One popular techista said when she called her Microsoft contact to complain he said he'll upgrade her to XP...WHAT??? Well here's the link to continued pain:
