Engadget Commenter Almost Fortells Apple's Present Nvidia Move
"micheal @ Jul 24th 2006 10:17AM
Nvidia has always felt that they are a chip-maker and actually view themselves as Intel's other
competition. While Intel's graphics are good for non-gaming use, as users move to Vista and other graphically-intensive operating systems, I wouldn't be surprised if Intel and Nvidia are already talking about a buyout. This would secure better embedded graphics and also optimize graphics for Intel-based system. On the scary side, if Intel had that kind of power, would they de-optimize systems using AMD/ATI graphics chips?
T'would be funnier if Apple bought Nvidia. :)"
Scary right? This guy was almost right. Nvidia was working on a chip in competition with the newly merged ATI/AMD. During that time I remember reading how fast the pipes are on graphic chips. Fast enough to run a whole OS. Looks like the future is now. What's even more curious is how the word "Gaming" keeps sticking to APPLE. Are they really trying to step into that realm? It's technically the last frontier for them anyway. They have conquered the ease of listening and buying music and movies. Their desktops and portable laptops have no competitor when it comes to style and function. Their OS "just works" for the most part and even their customer service rocks...
Back to the Nvidia/Apple story. Stevie J is taking a HUGE step letting a new CPU chip run their new laptops just to get better graphics. I just hope they tested this longer than the iphone. To release new lines in the wild untested can't be excused anymore. Eventually loyal fans will wear thin from brand new things not "just working". I already hear professional photographers complaining about macbook problems that can't be fixed without wiping the hard drive and starting over...Hmph, that sounds famailiar *cough* dell...
About the AAPL HDTV w/Apple TV built in? Sorry Jason, I'm not drinking that Kool-Aid, everyone knows all-in-one TVs are a headache. But What Do you Think? Here's the link: http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/08/10/11/apple_dumping_intel_chipse...
