Fujifilm+IBM= Infected By Web 2.0

Did you get that? It used to be a time when anything close to reverse engineering was bad, wrong, uncreative and liable. All the flack Microsoft used to get for copycatting good programs and going mainstream with them? Now it's ok...

I do understand that when you release your api you are giving others permission to tinker with the your product.I also appreciate companies funding each other for R&D. I've just never seen it done above the table in such large numbers. The Goolge and Yahoo ad deal could've never been allowed 10 years ago, so what's the difference now?

Really. I'm serious, why is collaboration and mashups, api disclosures and free online business tools so rampant today? Is Web 2.0 about sharing or finding other ways to profit?
