Philadelphia's Crawl Up The Media Ladder
Philly skyscraper's huge HD screen wowing visitors
"This city best known to tourists for its historical sites and museums has a surprise new high-tech hit that is developing into a must-see attraction: a huge atrium wall in Philadelphia's newest and tallest skyscraper where a cast of dancers and acrobats seem to come to life."
My buddy's wife took him inside the Comcast building last week. He explained how one side was 1/3 wood paneling and the rest was a plasma screen depicting wood paneling up to the ceiling. At first sight you don't notice the difference until a life size man pushes the panel off the wall on one side and on the other someone does the same. Eventually dancers come out on the screen and the effect gets very dramatic...
I'm glad to see that so far the Comcast bldg. is a huge success. I'm really glad to have such a major content provider in Philadelphia. Yes I do complain about monopolies and staggering cable prices but honestly, right now the bad comes with the good. It's a have cake/eat it too conflict. Hopefully seeing Comcast flourish and grow here will entice other tech/media giants into our space. They are building movie studious in the Philly area and this spring and summer we had like three movies filmed here at the same time so that's a boost too!
