The Ultimate Football Network At TechCrunch50
(Rerun) I've met Jonathan at www.friendfeed.com I believe. He actually horned hisself into a conversation I was having about Fantasy Football. I was saying anyone who formed a social network around fantasy football will make a killing and he was like" O RLLY?" Apparenlty he had this in the works and was testing the waters...So here he is in his glory:
"The Ultimate Football NetworkTurning Fans Into Experts
Organizing social media for fantasy football research and management
While traditional media sources, such as ESPN.com and CNNSI.com, have a team of writers covering the NFL, there are literally millions of fans discussing their favorite teams and players on team forums and message boards and through personal and fan blogs. These sources are also called as social media. And more often than not, it’s the passionate fans that have the greatest insights on their favorite teams and players, not the mainstream media. But with so many sources and no efficient way to find or organize them, fans have been unable to take advantage of the insights of fellow and rival fans.
UFN solves that problem by creating a centralized and customizable NFL news feed. Fans can use UFN to see pro football media from all sources organized by teams, players and popularity. Fans collectively decide which stories are hot and which sources are reliable and each individual fan can choose how they want to view their own news feed. For example, fans can customize their news feeds to display the hottest content related to the players on their fantasy rosters, that hot waiver wire prospect they’ve been eyeing or perhaps the hottest news on their favorite team.
UFN also lets fans automatically import fantasy rosters for centralized fantasy roster management. By allowing fans to leverage a customized news feed and combining that with roster management aspects of fantasy football, UFN combines the research and roster management aspects of fantasy football, providing the ultimate destination for diehard football fans.
This service benefits both publishers and consumers. Publishers receive increased promotion and distribution while fans are able to find the targeted content they are looking for quickly and in one place.
