Where Have All The Bands Gone?
That's the question my Philadelphia musician/client asked me tonight(See Pic). He thought years ago I was going to play the keys in his band. Poor guy, my NOT playing for him is the same reason there aren't any R&B bands selling records lately. 1)I'm not that good of a keyboard player and 2) Nobody wants to hear my arrangements. Most producers use some sort of software either at the beginning or end of the creation process. Who needs a band when you can play everything yourself. See that Korg Triton he has? I explained to him how to make drum patterns with it, record his real bass playing and then build music around it. Smooth Jazz is sooooo easy to make nowadays and if you get popular, just hire a band to play your music when you tour... No he doesn't want me to play in his band, he wants me to make him famous!
