That’s my comment on Techcrunch about the private message from Dave Winer sent to MG Siegler. Everything plays it’s part on the web, from RSS to spam. RSS or really simple syndication was practically created by Dave Winer to easily spread website posts across the web. The advantages to this is that as soon as a site is updated, RSS instantly spreads it across the Internet. The other advantage is that anyone can grab the feed and read it right after it’s published.

Technically, Dave sparked the live “get while it’s hot” web. Techmeme, twitter and others wouldn’t exist with this very important protocol. Nowadays though it seems like RSS is handing the baton over to Twitter to further propagate info across the web. We are not messing with RSS, we are just building on top of it, that’s all..
