Engadget and Ars Technica offer two great perspectives on the palm pre and apple iPhone. The sad fact is when it’s time to do something besides music or games, it can’t be done well. It looks like selling smartphones to the mainstream has made them dumb down the devices.
Creating a super fast phone that can’t multitask is insane and having a device previously made for business not take care of business in an airport is sad. Really is there anything that does the job well out there? Not yet. The Nokia N97 has been panned as a terrible smartphone in this late stage of the game. Even though I can do everything with the Nokia E63 Joshua Topolsky can’t do with the iPhone, the ovi store is dismal when it comes to popular mobile apps.
Who has the solution? I don’t know but I’m glad our gadget gurus aren’t drinking the koolaid too much. Fair and balanced should be the action, not reaction… What do you think?
